Grief. Movement. Nature. Connection
Sometimes, it helps to walk.
Hiking with Grief gives you space to be with your grief while moving your body, spending time in nature, and walking alongside others who understand something about loss.
You don't have to leave your grief at home. It can come with you.

You may spend a lot of time carrying your grief through everyday life without having much space to actually be with it.
Hiking with Grief gives you time and space to do just that, while moving your body, spending time in nature, and walking alongside others who understand something about loss.
As we walk, grief-centered conversations and gentle prompts are woven naturally into our time together. There will be opportunities to talk about the person who died, reflect on your grief, connect with others, and simply notice what is around you.
Not every moment has to be about grief. But there is room for it here.
You'll join a small group of adults for a hike of approximately 1.5 miles on the trails at Tourne County Park.
As we walk, I'll offer occasional prompts to open conversation about grief, loss, and the person who died. We'll also pause at different points along the trail for group conversation and reflection.
Along the way, we'll pause for a guided sound meditation, a chance to slow down, become present, and notice what is happening around you.
You're welcome to bring a photograph or small item that connects you with the person who died. There will be opportunities to share about them if you'd like.
Nothing is forced. You can talk, listen, reflect or simply walk.
You're grieving the death of someone important to you and are looking for a different way to make space for your grief.
You may appreciate this experience if you want to move your body, spend time in nature, connect with others who are grieving, or explore mindfulness in a supportive setting.
You don't need to have participated in a grief group before, and you don't need to consider yourself a hiker.
Come as you are. Grief can come too.

Hiking with Grief is a small-group grief support experience facilitated by Kristi Capriglione, LPC, a grief therapist and founder of Daylight Grief.
This hike includes approximately 1.5 miles of natural terrain with hills, elevation changes, and uneven surfaces. You should feel comfortable walking in these conditions and wear sturdy, weather-appropriate footwear.
Hiking with Grief is weather-dependent. If weather or trail conditions make the hike unsafe or uncomfortable, registered participants will be contacted about any changes or cancellation.
