GRIEF IN FOCUS

Exploring Grief Through Photography

Grief can change what we notice, how we see the world, and how we make sense of what is happening.

Grief in Focus is a sev-week small group that uses photography, reflection, and conversation as ways to slow down, notice, and explore the grief experience.

WHAT IS GRIEF IN FOCUS?

Grief can change the way we experience the world around us. Sometimes our attention narrows. Other times, ordinary moments, objects, places, or details begin to stand out in ways they didn't before.

Grief in Focus invites participants to slow down and become curious about what catches their attention. Photography offers a way to pause with those moments...not necessarily to explain them, but to notice them.

Over seven weeks, photographs become starting points for reflection and conversation. Through noticing, curiosity, and sharing, participants are given space to explore their grief, their connection to the person who died, and the ways loss may be shaping their sense of self and meaning.

HERE'S WHAT TO EXPECT

Grief in Focus is a seven-week, small-group experience that combines photography, guided reflection, and conversation.

Each week, participants will receive a simple photography invitation to carry with them between sessions. The goal is not to create a particular kind of image, but to notice what draws your attention and become curious about why.

During group sessions, photographs may become starting points for reflection and conversation. There is no expectation that every photograph needs to have meaning or that participants need to share more than feels comfortable.

Over the seven weeks, the invitations gradually build upon one another, creating space to explore grief, connection, identity, and meaning at your own pace.

No special camera is needed. A phone camera is enough.

GRIEF IN FOCUS MAY BE A GOOD FIT IF...

Grief in Focus is designed for adults grieving the death of someone important to them who are interested in exploring their grief in a different way.

You do not need to consider yourself creative or be comfortable with photography. You may find the group meaningful if you are interested in slowing down, noticing your experience, and reflecting alongside others who are also living with loss.

There is no expectation that you arrive with answers, or that every photograph has a story to tell.

Curiosity is enough.
